The newly launched Bharat New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) is finally done with the first set of car crash test, and now is preparing to announce results soon. As per the details shared by Team-BHP, an Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways revealed that the BNCAP program is on track, and is expected to share results this week or before the year ends.
Once the car crash safety ratings are out, it will help the customers to make wise choices when purchasing any car. Reports say that the government entity wanted to give a kickstart of the test in October 2023. Later, the date was pushed a bit further due to the festive season.
Here’s List of Participants
To gain the trust of Indian customers, multiple car manufacturers have sent their trusted products for the test by BNCAP. The list includes prominent car makers such as Kia, Hyundai, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, and others.
NCAP Crash Test Rating
As a part of the program, the BNCP puts every single vehicle to an ordeal, checking their built quality, and safety rating by applying heavy force on the body, using heavy objects.
All the cars weight up to 3,500kg, have to go through Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) tests. Once it is done, BNCAP rates the vehicles between 0 to 5, depending on their crash performance and safety.
