Prime Minister Narendra Modi has landed in Gujarat to attend a function in Mehsana district on Monday as a part of his scheduled two-day visit to lay the foundation stones for multiple developmental projects in the state worth over Rs 5,900 crore. The Prime Minister was welcomed at the Ahmedabad airport by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
PM Modi began his visit by offering prayers to Goddess Amba at the Ambaji temple located in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district.Thousands of people lined up on both sides of the road when the PM’s convoy reached the temple town of Ambaji. Following the darshan, he left to address a gathering at Mehsana’s Dabhoda village where he is scheduled to launch various projects.
As per a government release, the projects are pertaining to various government departments, including the Indian Railways, Gujarat Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (GRIDE), state water resource and water supply departments, roads and buildings and the urban development departments.
The 16 development initiatives to be unveiled by Modi cover districts of Mehsana, Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mahisagar, Gandhinagar and Patan,the release added.
Railway projects, including new sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) and doubling of Viramgam-Samakhiali rail line are among the several projects that will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister. The others include a project for recharge of rural lakes, construction of a barrage on the Sabarmati river, and projects for drinking water and sewage water treatment.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stones for various irrigation projects, widening of roads and sewage treatment plants.
On the second day of his visit, Prime Minister will participate in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas programme to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The PM will witness the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Parade that will comprise of marching contingents from BSF and various state police. The parade will also include a show by all women CRPF Bikers, women pipe band of BSF, choreographed programme by Gujarat women police, special NCC show, school bands display, fly past by Indian Air Force, showcasing of economic viability of vibrant villages, among others.
Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth Rs 160 crore in Kevadia. The projects that will be inaugurated include the Heritage Train from Ekta Nagar to Ahmedabad, project for Narmada Aarti live,Kamalam Park; a walkway within Statue of Unity, 30 new e-buses, 210 e-bicycles and multiple Golf Carts, City Gas Distribution Network at Ekta Nagar and ‘Sahkar Bhawan’ of Gujarat State Cooperative Bank. Further, he will lay the foundation stone of the Sub-District Hospital with trauma center and a solar panel at Kevadia.
