Five police officers were fatally shot after two snipers opened fire in downtown Dallas on Thursday evening during a protest rally over recent police shootings of two two African-American men in Minnesota and Louisiana this week. The demonstration comprised nearly 800 people with approximately 100 police officers protecting them.
A total of 11 cops were shot. Dallas Police Chief David Brown was quoted as saying, "It's unclear how many suspects were involved, but three people are in custody."
At the time of publishing, the standoff was underway as authorities tried to negotiate with a suspect in a garage.
As soon as the shooting started, live updates and videos from eyewitnesses started pouring in on social media, including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Some of the real-time videos and accounts of panic-stricken citizens are terrifying.
