Indians always feel a rush of pride when they see people from other nationalities speaking Indian languages, and trying out our food and attire. If you are among them, a video of a South African man wearing a kurta and trying out Indian street food is just for you. The South African citizen stated in the video’s caption he has been in India for seven months and finally decided to try India’s famous street foods.
Recently, he was seen on the streets of Mumbai where he bought corn from a vendor selling it on a cart, and ate it. However, when an underprivileged girl approached him, his actions towards her were heartwarming.
Tyne de Villiers is a resident of South Africa. According to his Instagram bio, he currently lives in India. In the video, Tyne is dressed in a kurta-pyjama and is accompanied by a friend. Both are standing near the cart, getting corn roasted for themselves, and conversing with the corn seller. They inquire if the seller knows English, and he responds that someone standing nearby knows the language.
In between, Tyne himself also speaks in Hindi. There is another person present who knows a little English. Meanwhile, two girls who appear needy arrive at the scene. The person gets two corns roasted for himself but then asks the two girls if they would like some as well. When they say yes, Tyne gets two additional corn roasted for them and gives the corn to the girls.
In the caption, Villers wrote, “Life is about the moments we cherish and the smiles we bring to others. India has taught me so much, and it’s only fair to give time and attention to the people who make this country great. I love getting to know people and their stories. Some come from very difficult and tough backgrounds, yet they still work tirelessly every day to provide for their loved ones. Not everyone has the opportunity and privilege to do what they want or love, so here’s a shout-out to all the hardworking people out there!”
