A woman is dominating the headlines for raising an issue with her in-laws that has been troubling her for a long time. As per The Mirror, she has been vegetarian the whole time after the marriage, and still, her in-laws serve her meat every time she visits them. The woman, whose identity is unknown, is distraught at the fact that her in-laws have scant regard for her dietary requirements. This is happening even though she has been together with her husband for 9 years and married to him for 7 years.
Adding to the troubles is the self-guilt she experiences for leaving a lot of food on the plate because she can’t eat it. The woman has vented out her frustration on the Mumsnet portal. Mumsnet is a London-based internet forum created in 2000 by Justine Roberts. This portal is dedicated to discussions between parents of children and teenagers.
The woman wrote, “Husband and I have been married for seven years, together nine. I have been a vegetarian the entire time.” She then explained, “Every time we come here to eat, I’ll be offered/given something containing meat. I have to then feel rude and say no thank you. “For example yesterday the peas were ready prepared with mint and bloody pancetta. My plate was dished up for me, so I ended up having to leave a load of food on my plate.” The woman further said that it looks rude from her side, but she thinks it’s the other way around and is rude from their end.
Social media users came up with a lot of suggestions with one writing that she should refuse to go to her in-law’s house to eat anymore. The woman expressed her helplessness at this point and said that she could not do that. Another person suggested that the next time she is invited, tell them you’ll bring your meal, and do it even if they try to persuade you otherwise.
The woman replied that her in-laws are over-sensitive people and they’d take it so personally and cause trouble. According to her, they do control us with their temperaments. The woman ended the note by writing that she had got another lunch today and hoped that the roast potatoes weren’t in goose fat like normal.
