Many couples have different kinks when it comes to sex and foreplay, much of which is imbibed from their portrayal in cinema and other art forms. While it is not wrong to explore one’s sexual interest, going too deep into it can cause catastrophic results, akin to the case of UK woman, Georgie Brooke. The 26-year old woman was killed while playing a sex game of ‘choking’ as part of foreplay along with boyfriend Luke Cannon. Shortly after Luke accidentally killed Georgie by choking her too hard, he took his own life by hanging himself. The 31-year-old man was found dead in woodland near Bradford Royal Infirmary, the day after he was told by medics his partner Georgia Brooke had died.
Bradford Coroner’s Court revealed that the couple had used the drug GHB before engaging in sexual activity at Luke Cannon’s home on February 3, 2022. Luke called for an ambulance when Georgie lost consciousness during their sexual encounter, but she was declared dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Text messages between them showed that the choking was consensual. Senior coroner Martin Fleming concluded that Luke Cannon had planned to end his own life, resulting in a recorded verdict of suicide.
The case is 2 years old, but many revelations have been made only now during the hearing in the court. A British court has now ruled Georgia’s death as unlawful killing, indicating that her death was caused by Luke’s mistake. There is no evidence suggesting that Luke intended to kill Georgia. The post-mortem report revealed that excessive force was applied to her neck, leading to suffocation. The prolonged use of force on her neck was identified as the cause of death. During the court hearing, Georgia’s mother accused Luke of controlling her since they began their relationship in 2021, dictating what she wore and how she behaved. Conversely, Luke’s brother described him as a generous person who deeply loved his girlfriend.
