Socialising is quite challenging for introverts. But the question is, are they totally against meeting people or can they mingle among a regular crowd? Recently, a social media influencer tried to explain the predicament of introverts. But it reportedly raised many questions among the social media buffs. As per a report by the Independent, a Malaysian influencer, Eriyca Baiduri claimed that she bought tickets for every seat in a movie theatre to avoid crowds.
The influencer uploaded the video of herself seated inside an empty cinema hall to the video-sharing app TikTok. As per the portal, the influencer captioned her post, ”We are the introverted type! So we bought all the seats.” The video depicts several empty rows in a hall and the influencer seated inside.
As per the report, the clip has prompted debate on social media. Some users claimed that the influencer was exaggerating the behaviour of introverts. On the other hand, others believed there was nothing wrong with her decision. Some also criticised her for flaunting her wealth. According to an Asia News Network report, movie ticket prices range between RM11 and RM35, implying that it might have cost her anywhere between RM1,760 and RM 5,600 which is nearly a lakh in Indian currency.
Later, Eriyca Baiduri shared with a Malaysian news outlet, mStar, that this video was a joke. She said, ”I made the video caption in jest… Suddenly, it became viral, so I left it at that. Netizens can say whatever they want like I’m just showing off or I’m being pretentious and claiming to be an introvert, but I’ll still forgive them. It was quite fun watching netizens fight in the comments section. That’s why I let things be. They’re quite funny,” as quoted by Independent. She added that in reality, she did not buy all the tickets but the hall was unusually empty that prompted her to make the content.
She stated that she and her husband were on their way to see a movie when they entered an empty cinema hall, leading them to believe they had entered the incorrect one. “The moment we entered the hall, (we saw) it was empty with not a single person. We were about to leave the hall but then realised that it was just me and my husband who were watching that screening.” She added it was the first time she watched a movie in an empty hall.
