GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke Drops Photo From His 2008 Bengaluru Trip With A ‘Fair Warning’

Thomas Dohmke, CEO of GitHub is currently in India on a business trip. GitHub is a platform that allows people to create, store and share their code. Although this is Thomas Dohmke’s first visit as the CEO of Microsoft-owned GitHub, this is not the first time he has been to the country. On Wednesday, the tech CEO announced his arrival in India by sharing a 2008 photo from his previous visit to Bengaluru. Thomas Dohmke’s throwback photo appears to have been taken at Brigade Road, a bustling commercial area in the city.

While sharing this photo, Thomas Dohmke wrote, “Although this is my first visit as GitHub CEO in India, this is not my first time here. I love this country. This is me in 2008, in Bengaluru — I haven’t aged at all. India is at the nexus of monumental economic opportunity, as it is set to become the world’s largest developer community at the exact point in time when the age of AI is taking off. More from me on this soon.” This post gained over 3 lakh likes.

Soon after dropping the above-mentioned throwback photo, the tech mogul also shared a lighthearted post about Indian food. He posted a photo that showed a bowl of green chillies kept along with a bottle of Bhut Jolokia hot sauce. He wrote, “I survived. Barely! The food is so damn good here.” Bhut Jolokia, also known as ghost pepper, is believed to be one of the hottest chilli peppers in the world

The GitHub CEO also took X to share his optimistic attitude towards Indian engineers and tech workers excelling in the field of artificial intelligence technologies.

In an X post, he wrote, “It’s not just how you will build with AI, it’s the AI innovation you will build right here in India. The next great AI startup will be as likely to come from Mumbai or Bengaluru as SF or Seattle.”

In another post, he wrote, “India has always been known as a vivid tapestry of creative expression. But what I also know: there is still yet a sleeping tiger of Indian creativity waiting to be unleashed. Together, we will unleash it.”

So far, during his trip to India, Thomas Dohmke has had meetings with Paytm, HCL Technologies and Microsoft.
