Weighing an impressive 15 quintals, a buffalo named Golu-2 is stealing the spotlight as the chief guest at the three-day Bihar Dairy and Cattle Expo in Patna from December 21 to 23. This six-year-old buffalo has become a social media sensation not just for its sheer weight and prolific offspring but also for its remarkable monthly earnings of Rs 8 lakh.
Owned by farmer Narendra Singh from Panipat, Golu-2 has garnered attention for its extraordinary health and vitality. To maintain its robust condition, the buffalo is provided with a daily diet of 30 kg of green and dry fodder, along with an additional 10 kg of apples. Additionally, Golu-2 consumes ten litres of milk each day. A senior veterinary expert noted that the buffalo produces enough semen to impregnate around 10,000 buffaloes annually.
Originally hailing from a village in Panipat, Golu-2’s market value was set at Rs 10 crore during an agricultural fair in Panipat five years ago. Narendra Singh revealed that a dedicated team of five people works around the clock to care for Golu-2, ensuring its well-being.
Apart from its substantial meal plan and frequent appearances at various events nationwide, Golu-2 enjoys some luxuries. The buffalo receives a daily massage using approximately one litre of mustard oil. Furthermore, it has access to an air-conditioned room, allowing it to watch TV for four hours each day. According to Narendra Singh, Golu-2 follows a daily routine that includes a 5-kilometer walk in the morning and evening, followed by a bath, meals, and rest. The buffalo’s birthday is celebrated on December 30.
For those interested in purchasing Golu-2’s semen, the cost is set at Rs 300 per dose. The buffalo’s extraordinary lifestyle and earnings have turned it into a unique celebrity attraction, drawing attention at the Bihar Dairy and Cattle Expo.
