The Air India special chartered flight, carrying the winning Indian cricket team on their way to India, made a record for one of the world’s most tracked flights on Flight radar for as many as 15+ hours. The flight’s call sign ‘AIC24WC’ signifies India’s historic World Cup victory (’24WC’ for T20 World Cup 2024). India’s victory against South Africa, securing their second ICC T20 World Cup title, marks a significant milestone in cricket history, ending a 13-year wait for an ICC trophy.
The flight-tracking portal took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, “Our most tracked flight right now – T20 World Cup champions India on their way home.” The Indian cricket team was stranded in Barbados after the final match against South Africa due to Hurricane Beryl, which caused severe destruction across the Caribbean. It took off from Barbados on July 3, 2024.
Reportedly, after meeting with the Prime Minister in New Delhi, the celebration will be followed by an open bus victory parade in Mumbai. The grand finale will be a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium, where fans will gather to honour the heroes.
