Xiaomi Redmi 5A will be up for sale for the first time in India today. The entry-level smartphone by Xiaomi was launched last week and will be available for purchase today through online portals like Flipkart and Xiaomi’s official website, MI.com. In addition, the Redmi 5A will also be available in Xiaomi’s offline stores – Mi Homes, as well as Xiaomi’s partner retail stores, starting 12 pm. Xiaomi had earlier launched the Redmi 5A along with a launch offer that entitled the first 5 Million buyers to Rs 1000 discount on the smartphone. After the Rs 1000 discount, the Redmi 5A is evidently Xiaomi's cheapest smartphone offering in the country. In partnership with Jio, Xiaomi will now also be offering a Rs 1000 additional cashback to the customers.
As for its specifications, Redmi 5A sports a 5-inch HD display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor. The phone comes with a 2+1 card slot that supports simultaneous use of two 4G nano-SIM cards and a microSD card up to 128GB. Redmi 5A houses a 3000mAh long-lasting battery and comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and a f/2.2 aperture. At the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.
The lower storage variant carries a 2GB RAM and a 16GB internal storage and is priced at Rs 5,999 (available at Rs 4,999 for the first 5 Million customers). Its counterpart, that costs Rs 6,999, carries a 3GB RAM and a 32GB internal storage. The smartphone comes with a metallic matte finish and will be available in three colours: Dark grey, Gold and Rose gold. A noteworthy thing to mention here is that the Redmi 5A is a ‘Made in India’ device.
