New Delhi: WhatsApp is following the footsteps of rival Viber and is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow users to integrate GIFs into chats.
Coding website pastebin lists over 30 improvements and changes to come with the beta release. These include support for auto playing GIFs when shared as a link along with the option to save it even as a simple image.
The beta release (v2.16.7.1) to WhatsApp for iOS will also include numerous bug fixes and improvements .
The new features will also include ability to directly reply to GIFs, encryption support for GIF sharing, and support for peek and pop feature that comes with 3D Touch.
However, WhatsApp will currently not allow searching for GIF within the app or direct import from other sources. It is expected that future update will bring that ability.
