Watch: Why work doesn't happen at work and banning Facebook, Twitter, social media sites won't help
Jason Fried, co-founder Basecamp, highlights why exactly work doesn’t happen at work and how banning access to social media sites and calling them ‘distractions’ won't actually help.

Offices are meant to be the places where we do or get work done. But, why is it difficult to do exactly that especially when your workstations are properly equipped with the latest computers, Internet connectivity, and you typically have 8 hours of a day to do the work? At one of the TED Talks, Jason Fried, co-founder Basecamp, highlights why exactly work doesn’t happen at work and how banning access to social media sites and calling them ‘distractions’ won't actually help. One of his many suggestions to make employees or volunteers at an organisation or a company feel productive and actually do the work assigned to them is to allow them sometime in a day, perhaps an hour, with absolutely no interruption at all. Here’s the complete video where Jason highlights the real reason behind taking your work home and why there is only a certain time in a day or a place where you get the best of ideas and feel productive.

What's your reaction?
