Sold by Sony in March 2014 due to unprofitability, the group renamed itself Vaio Corp. After selling computers in Japan, the company is about to release its high-end convertible tablet, the Z Canvas, in the US.
Vaio Corp intends to target the American market by focusing on luxury tablets and laptops for high-end users looking for a Windows alternative to a MacBook. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Viao Corp CEO Yoshimi Ota stated, "We are not interested in cheap models for everyone."
Microsoft retail stores will start selling the product in October, with a pre-order option starting in September.
