New Delhi: Online music-streaming service Grooveshark that was shut down last week has been conjured up again.
Grooveshark allowed users to upload digital audio files, which could then be streamed and organized in playlists. But the site went offline on April 30th after more than half a decade of legal battles and controversy. But, the music service is being reconstructed by an individual connected to the service.
A BGR writer notes that he received an email from a person calling himself Shark- who’s connected to Grooveshark and has assembled a team to bring back the site back to life.
Shark claims that he had started backing up all the content on the website when he suspected that Grooveshark was on the brink of shutting down. By the time the service close, he had backup up 90 per cent of the content on the site and now he is working on getting the remaining 10 per cent.
Shark’s backup content is now available at Grooveshark.io. Although it is still not the finished original version of the site, the team is hoping to bring back the old interface in entirety along with playlists and favourites.
When asked how the new team planned to keep the site online, given the fact that the original team settled with record companies just days ago, the team said that it has all the servers/domains infrastructure in place and it was ready to bring Grooveshark back fully.
