If you are still considering to buy either the Google Pixel or Pixel XL smartphone then take note of this. Google has announced the end-of-life dates for the Pixel and Pixel XL. In its support page, Google has clearly mentioned that there is “No guaranteed Android version updates after" October 2018 for the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.
Also, both the devices are not guaranteed to get security updates after October 2019. As far as Nexus smartphones are considered, the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X could stop getting Android version updates after September 2017, and exactly after a year, both the devices might stop receiving security updates.

“Pixel phones get security updates for at least 3 years from when the device first became available on the Google Store, or at least 18 months from when the Google Store last sold the device, whichever is longer. After that, we can't guarantee additional updates," according to the support page.
The Pixel and Pixel XL are similar. While the Pixel sports a 5-inch Full HD display backed by a 2,770mAh battery, the Pixel XL offers a 5.5-inch Quad HD display powered by a 3,450mAh battery. All specs are same and there is no microSD card support.

With Google confirming that Pixel 2 will be available in 2017, we expect the smartphones to launch around September or October. Rick Osterloh - senior vice president, hardware at Google has already said that Pixel will stay premium and confirmed that it would launch this year. Osterloh, however, did not reveal the date of launch.
Interestingly, a low-end purported 'Pixel 2B' is also expected to launch alongside with rumoured features on the lines of Android One smartphones.
