Apple has been accused of giving secret deals to platforms which helps them keep some share of their purchases but soon the company could entice developers with a unique offering. Apple has reportedly started a pilot program which gives App store developers the freedom to offer their apps with special discounts if users take multiple subscriptions.
The deal doesn’t need the apps to be from the same developer, in fact, you could pay for two different apps, and the developers can team up and offer a special price for their respective apps.
The discount is only available when both the developers are willing to offer the deal. Apple is planning for some major changes in the coming months, as it prepares to comply with the EU laws, which warrants Apple to allow other app stores to work on its devices.
The company is also expected to make the platform appealing for developers so that they can earn money, while customers get more incentive to pay for services through the App Store or other avenues.
Apple users will never say no to discounts, that too for paid services but the development is still in a testing phase, so iPhone users will have to wait for a while before it actually makes its way to them in the public.
Apple has a major say on how developers push their apps on the App Store, but even then it has managed to get deals done in a different manner, especially if you’re from the higher tier aka Google and Spotify among others.
The tests for these offerings will start in the next few months, and if Apple feels the program can work at a larger scale, it will surely make the announcements, probably by the time WWDC 2024 knocks on the door.
