Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker has summoned former Army Chief General VK Singh who had made allegations that the Army pays off ministers in the state.
Speaker Mubarak Gul decided to summon Singh after the assembly was forced to adjourn after protests by political parties seeking clarifications over the remark. The date for summoning are yet to be announced.
The Assembly had recently passed a unanimous resolution asking Centre to conduct an inquiry into Singh's allegations. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that Singh's allegation cannot be ignored.
VK Singh had told CNN-IBN that the Army paid money to J&K policians for social work. Singh had made the revelation after a newspaper report alleged that a secret Army unit set up by him misused Army funds to try and topple the state government.
