New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader Harish Rawat on Wednesday was meeting Congress MP Pradeep Tamta along with his supporter MLAs. The meeting comes even as the Congress is battling rumours that Rawat is set on joining the BJP, after the Congress made Vijay Bahuguna the chief minister of Uttarakhand.
Rawat had sent in his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi after it had been decided to make Bahuguna the chief minister.
Meanwhile, Bahuguna has tried to steer clear of the controversy saying Rawat is a union leader and "a friend".
"Before coming to Dehradun, I had gone to Harish Rawat's house, to speak to him. In my opinion, Harish Rawat has devoted his entire life to the party. He is already a union minister. He is my friend. I am sure he will not join hands with communal forces," Bahuguna added.
