Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) should get ready for "early" Lok Sabha elections as the government's position was vulnerable in Parliament since the DMK pulled out.
"Since the DMK has taken the decision, out position is a little vulnerable in Parliament. So, we have to be ready to go to polls anytime. I don't say we'll immediately go but if that situation happens, we have to be ready," he said.
Pawar also said that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi should call a meeting with the allies to decide its candidate for the Prime Minister's post.
"I think we have to sit together and prepare a plan...And for that I am going to request the chairperson of the UPA that she should call a meeting of the UPA persons," said the NCP chief.
Pawar also ridiculed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi when asked about his prospects of becoming the Prime Minister. Laughing, he said, "So far the experience is anyone who has been projected doesn't become one," he said.
