The Shiormani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday lashed out at the UPA government for failing to put diplomatic pressure to check the hate crimes against Sikhs residing in foreign countries. In a statement issued in Chandigarh on Thursday, SAD secretary and spokesperson Daljit Singh Cheema alleged that Minister of State for External Affairs, Preneet Kaur had failed to check the hate crimes against Sikhs as a religious community.

He said whether it was the turban issue in France or attacks on Sikh Taxi drivers in Australia or the rising hate crimes against the community in Philippines, UPA had failed to "protect the life and property of its citizens".

Seeking public apology from the Congress-led UPA government and from Kaur, Cheema said they should publicly admit that they have failed to discharge their duties and that they have no right to continue in power.
