New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday met key party leaders to decide on who would lead the government in Uttarakhand. However, no announcement was made in this regard after the meeting.
Meanwhile, according to sources, Union Minister Harish Rawat and senior leader Indira Hridesh are the frontrunners for the post of Chief Minister, with the former having a slight edge.
Thought the Congress has staked the claim to form the government in Uttarakhand, infighting has delayed the decision of who would be the Chief Minister.
Congress general secretary in-charge of the state, Ghulam Nabi Azad, has, meanwhile, said that a decision will be taken either on Monday or on Tuesday.
Earlier, there were reports of Uttarakhand Congress chief Yashpal Arya being the frontrunner for the post of Chief Minister.
