Tytler may get the boot after shoe attack incident
A journalist threw a shoe at P Chidambaram on Tuesday.

New Delhi: There was high drama during Home Minister P Chidambaram’s press conference in New Delhi when a journalist threw a shoe at the minister.

Chidambaram was speaking with journalists at the Congress headquarters when the incident took place.

A Sikh journalist, Jarnail Singh, from Hindi daily Dainik Jagran asked Chidambaram a question regarding the CBI clean chit to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler.

The journalist has not only been released but is getting attractive offers. The Akali Dal (Amritsar) led by radical leader and former IPS officer Simranjit Singh Mann has offered a Lok Sabha ticket to Jarnail Singh.

However, the shoe could mean bad news for Congress leader Jagdish Tytler, who could lose his ticket to fight the elelctions.

Sources in the Congress have told CNN-IBN that the the party is open to dropping Tytler.

Tytler has been given a clean chit by the CBI in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, absolving him of any involvement in the riots. The acquital sparked off protests in Delhi and Punjab... where the Akali Dal is ruling in coalition with the BJP.

In fact, some within the Congress too have been pressing for denial of tickets to Tytler and Sajjan Kumar, who is also accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

"Let us see what happens and how can we address the situation. We will have to wait for the party's decision," said Congress Spokesperson Ashwini Kumar.

Meanwhile, Jagdish Tytler, the man in focus, is busy campaigning in his constituency of North-East Delhi. He doesn't think there will be any change in candidature.
