Suresh Prabhu takes charge as Union Railways Minister
Prabhu switched from Shiv Sena to BJP just ahead of the swearing-in ceremony on Sunday.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Suresh Prabhu took charge as the new Union Railways Minister replacing Sadananda Gowda.

Prabhu, a qualified Chartered Accountant returned to the Union Cabinet on Sunday after having served in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government during when he won kudos for imparting a new dynamism to the functioning of the Power Ministry.

Prabhu switched from Shiv Sena to BJP just ahead of the swearing-in ceremony on Sunday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was keen on having Prabhu on board Prabhu as he was also appointed as the PM's 'sherpa' to assist him at the upcoming G20 summit in Brisbane.
