SC dismisses alleged rape case against Rahul
SC said that CBI enquiry against the petitioner (Kishore Samrite) will continue and also imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on him.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed an alleged case of rape and abduction against Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi. The apex court said that the CBI enquiry against the petitioner (Kishore Samrite) will continue and also imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on the petitioner.

Samrite has been asked to pay Rs 5 lakh to Rahul and Rs 5 lakh to the girl and her parents as compensation. The court also stated that the petition was full of malice.

Smrite had made allegations, based on a website report, that on December 3, 2006, while on a tour of his constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Rahul along with his six friends committed rape of a woman and detained her illegally. The Allahabad High Court had, too, earlier dismissed Smrite's petition, ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe against him and imposed a cost of Rs 50 lakh.
