Rahul's remarks on Nitish misinterpreted: Moily
Moily says there is no political meaning in to Rahul's remark on Nitish.

New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday said there was no political meaning into the praise showered by its general secretary Rahul Gandhi on JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his good governance in the state.

"Mr Gandhi is a politician who always recognises the merit of other politician. This does not mean that we appreciate all aspects of Mr Nitish. The greatness of Mr Gandhi is that he finds merit in even the worst enemy," AICC Media Department chief Veerappa Moily told mediapersons.

Asked about the harsh reaction from RJD Chief Lalu Prasad and LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan to Mr Gandhi's praise for Mr Nitish, he said the Congress would not dump its old allies in the UPA.

"We are fighting the elections against the RJD and the LJP. But still they have already announced that they continued to be in the UPA," Mr Moily said, while expressing the hope that the old allies would remain in the UPA after the elections.

Asked what was the basis for Mr Gandhi's confidence that the Left would support Dr Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister, he said, "The Left think of only winning the elections. But Mr Gandhi is thinking of winning the elections, forming the government and also about the future of the country."

When his attention was drawn to the offer of Mr Gandhi to support a Left government if it managed to get about 180 seats, Mr Moily said "Mr Gandhi is a broadminded and liberal politician."
