Srinagar: Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Monday said that the Peoples Democratic Party is not a role model for people and its victory in the Lok Sabha elections in Kashmir was due to ruling National Conference's "anti-people" policies.
PDP's euphoria over the poll results is "meaningless and unrealistic" and the party is not a role model for the people of Kashmir, Geelani said in a statement. "The victory of the PDP is the reaction of the masses to NC's anti-people policies," the chairman of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference said.
A very few people cast their votes in the elections and the PDP should not consider it as their victory, he said. Referring to the National Conference, Geelani said that the party had always played a "negative role" in the history of Kashmir.
