New Delhi: Following the Supreme Court's verdict on the expulsion of MPs in the cash-for-query scam, the BJP on Wednesday indicated that the expelled members will not be given tickets in the next elections.
However, BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad called his party's note of dissent on the expulsion a "past issue".
"It's a matter of the past and now it stands concluded. I do not think the party will give them ticket. The party has always taken a serious view of acts of corruption even if it involves some of its own members," he told PTI.
The MPs had been caught accepting bribes on camera in a sting operation, which led to their expulsion.
"The judgement has acknowledged the supremacy of Parliament as far as the conduct of its own members is concerned," Prasad explained.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra suggested the Government draw up a set of guidelines to act on allegations of corruption against lawmakers.
“It's good that punishment is awarded for corruption but there should also be rules in place to decide such cases,” Malhotra said.
