Sitamarhi (Bihar): Scared of the threats of the banned Maoist guerillas to boycott polls, voters have not turned up in nine polling booths in Sitamarhi Lok Sabha seat of Bihar on Thursday morning.

Official sources said here that the Maoists had given poll boycott call and also pasted threatening posters.

In the wake of the threats, not even a single voter has so far exercised franchise in the polling booths number 105, 106, 107,

108, 116, 117, 119, 120, and 121 in Sirakhiya and Giddha villages of Runnisaidpur block.

Sources said the voters have preferred to stay indoors as the area is extremist-dominated.

Meanwhile, a report from Darbhanga said the voters refused to participate in the polling in booth number 35, 36 and 37 in support of their demands.

The villagers were demanding construction of bridge on the Kheroai river.
