The Congress' victory march continues in Karnataka. Two days after it's landslide victory in the two Lok Sabha by-polls, the party has once again registered an impressive victory in the Legislative Council (Vidhana Parishath) by-polls.
The ruling Congress has wrested Hubil-Dharwad and Mysore-Chamarajanagar upper house seats from the BJP. An independent candidate has shocked all major political parties in the fray by winning Chitradurga seat.
The BJP has suffered a humiliating defeat once again. Former chief minister Jagadish Shettar's younger brother Pradeep Shettar has lost Hubli-Dharwad seat to Congress' Nagaraj Chebbi.
In Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's hometown Mysore, Congress candidate Dharmasena has defeated KJP's Shekhar. Independent candidate Raghu Acharya won Chitradurga seat. The Congress has been pushed to the third place here.
The JDS and the KJP had backed the BJP in two seats. The JDS and the BJP had backed the KJP in Mysore.
Voting to three seats took place on August 22. The by-polls were necessitated by the resignation of three BJP MLCs before the Assembly elections.
