Kannada writers Ananthamurthy, Karnad to campaign against Modi in Varanasi
The Progressive Writers Association (PWA) is planning to organize a public meeting against Modi in Varanasi on May 4.

Bangalore: Jnanapeeth Award winning renowned Kannada writers U R Ananthamurthy and Girish Karnad have now decided to campaign against the BJP candidate Narendra Modi in Varanasi.

The Progressive Writers Association (PWA) is planning to organize a public meeting against Modi in Varanasi on May 4. The PWA wants to back secular forces against Modi.

The co-ordination committee of the PWA which held a meeting in New Delhi, last week has decided to invite all like minded people to Varanasi to campaign against Modi.

The PWA has invited Nobel Award winning economist Amarthya Sen, Booker winning writer Arundhati Roy, noted film personalities Gulzar, Shabana Azmi, Mahesh Bhat and others to May 4 public meeting in Varanasi.

Ananthamurthy and Karnad have extensively campaigned against the BJP in Bangalore city. The BJP Karnataka unit has demanded the removal of their pictures from public places and schools till April 17, the voting day in Karnataka.
