Ending a 16-year-long wait, the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal had in 2013 announced its decision, allocating Tamil Nadu 419 thousand million cubic feet of water out of 740 tmcft available in the basin while Karnataka's share was fixed at 270 TMC feet.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Friday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to order formation of Cauvery Management Board and Cauvery Regulations Commitee.
In the 31-page letter, Jayalalithaa said she hoped the final order of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal would be implemented fully and the legitimate rights of Tamil Nadu's farmers would be protected.
The Tamil Nadu CM has been pressurising PM Modi ever since he assumed office on issues related to the Tamil population.
