Ahmedabad: A metropolitan court in Ahmedabad on Monday handed over the final copy of the SIT report on the Gulbarg Society massacre to Zakia Jafri, a month after the Supreme Court-appointed SIT found no prosecutable evidence against Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The report is 25,000-pages long.
The court has asked Jafri to file an application if she feels there are discrepencies in the report or that documents are incomplete, on May 10. Jafri has asked for two months' time before arguments can begin in the case.
The report had sought a closure in the probe as it found no evidence against Modi.
Zakia Jafri is the widow of former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri who was among 69 persons killed in the Gulbarg society carnage. She had named Modi and 57 others for alleged criminal conspiracy in the 2002 riots. Zakia will also be given a copy of the amicus curiae report filed independently by Raju Ramachandran.
In a press meet, Zakia said, "I have got the report today. I will go through it."
Meanwhile, her counsel and activist Teesta Setalvad said, "There are roughly 22000 pages in the report. We have been given 2-3 days' time to verify that all documents are there."
She added, "Two volumes of SIT report have been given to us. We will ask for time in July to file protest and argue."
