New Delhi: With months to go for the elections in Delhi, all is not well within the BJP state unit. An all-out factional war has broken out between Harshvardhan and Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel, with both vying for the Chief Minister's post if the party comes to power.
BJP member Sudhanshu Mittal, who is perceived to be close to Goel, has in fact resigned from the Delhi election management cell. Sources say that there has been a lot of friction over who should be the CM candidate.
Sushma Swaraj, Madan Lal Khurana and VK Malhotra, all of them have lost to Sheila Dikshit in the last three assembly polls. Party insiders say internal squabbling over the top job has been hurting their electoral prospects.
A group in the party feels that Harshvardhan will be a better bet. When asked about leadership change, BJP chief Rajnath Singh said, "This decision will be taken by the Parliamentary board in a few days. There's no infighting."
