Congressmen to stand as independents in Nadia
A section of Congressmen unhappy over Congress-TMC agreement in Nadia is thinking to contest as Independents.

Krishnagar: Unhappy over the Congress-TMC seat sharing agreement, a section of Congressmen in Nadia district is thinking of resigning from the party and would contest as Independents.

According to the tie-up, Congress has been given only Shantipur constituency, out of the 17 seats in the district. Congress has only one sitting MLA in the district from Shantipur seat.

"Party workers are angry over the alliance as Congress has only been given one seat. Many of them are thinking of contesting as Independent candidates in the seats in the district," Shankar Singh, President of Nadia district Congress said in a press meet after holding a meeting with the disgruntled party men.

Singh also hinted that he may quit the party along with others.

"I agree with the workers. I am mentally prepared to resign from the party," he said.
