New Delhi: The Congress criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) manifesto with party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi claiming it was nothing but a copy of their manifesto.
Singhvi also slammed BJP prime ministerial candidate LK Advani and claimed that the Leader of Opposition was standing next to Babri Masjid when it was being demolished, and then shed crocodile tears.
"Advani was standing next to the Babri Masjid when it was being demolished yet he says in his book that he was saddened by it," said Singhvi.
He also called the BJP a corrupt party that led a corrupt government.
"The BJP has had a consistent stand on corruption -- from Tehelka Scam to Neera Yadav now. BJP has a majboor neta aur bhrast sarkar (weak leader and corrupt government," he added.
Singhvi also ridiculed Advani calling him a mom purush (wax man) instead of lauh purush (iron man) for releasing terrorists during the Kandahar hijack.
“BJP-led NDA (national Democratic Alliance) seeks power on the basis of masboot neta, nirnayak sarkar (strong leader, decisive government). The self-appointed lauh purush turned into mom-purush (iron man to wax man) years back. He is the one who yielded on terrorists in Kandahar. Advani in his autobiography says 'I don't know about the decision of handing over terrorists'. How can a home minister be not part of a crucial meeting like that?" wondered Singhvi.
“Terror attacks are not in any party's control. But what's in our control is not escorting terrorists to a foreign country," he said
Singhvi also hinted that there was differences between the saffron front on Advani and pointed out that the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh disowned him when he called Muhammad Ali Jinnah secular.
He also claimed that all leaders with divisive agenda were a part of the BJP including Narendra Modi and Varun Gandhi.
“The electorate taught the NDA and BJP that to be an Indian you don't need to be born here. You can even be a true Indian if you are married here and espouse true Gandhian ideals. That it why Sonia Gandhi is more of an Indian than Advani," he added.
