Can a Weak Party Provide Stable Govt: PM Modi Hits out at Congress' Alliances from Assam Rally
Referring the Congress' alliances in poll-bound states, PM Modi said the party has become so weak that it can go to any extent and join hands with anyone.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi who addressed an election rally in Assam’s Karimganj hit out at the Congress saying the grand old party was responsible for damaging Assam socially, culturally, geographically and politically.

Referring the Congress’ alliances in poll-bound states, Modi said the party has become so weak at present that it can go to any extent and join hands with anyone. “The Congress is allying with the same party in West Bengal against whom they are contesting in Kerala. Can a party that doesn’t have stable thinking, give a stable govt to Assam?” Modi said.

Stating that the Congress has divided Assam, Modi said the BJP is trying to connect the state in every way as “sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka viswas” is the saffron camp’s development mantra.

“The Congress governments and their policies damaged Assam socially, culturally, geographically and politically. In 2016, when I came here, I was shocked to know the Congress government ran divisional commissioner for Barak Valley from Guwahati. The NDA govt has overcome this injustice,”

“Decades ago, this entire region had better connectivity. However, the Congress’ corrupt and vote-bank based governance had made Assam one of the most disconnected states in India. Today, there is a wave of development, a wave of confidence in Assam. Today, there is a belief of peace in Assam, there is a belief of prosperity. Today, there is only one issue in Assam – development, rapid development, continuous development, development of all.”

“National development and growth has always been the priority of BJP govts. We are converting northeast into a major centre of India’s progress. The double-engine govt is helping empower the people of Assam,” Modi said.

“Gas connectivity too was not up to the mark. The BJP govt is swiftly pulling Assam out of this situation,” he said.
