BJP to Go to All Constituencies for Bringing People’s Manifesto in West Bengal
BJP President JP Nadda is set to launch the Sonar Bangla crowdsourcing campaign.

Taking a leaf out of their own book of promising of a ‘Lokkho Sonar Bangla’, a campaign which saw more than 200 outreach meetings with intellectuals, historians and opinion makers on what the idea of an ideal Bengal would be, the saffron party now plans to go on a crowdsourcing drive for coming out with a people’s manifesto.

BJP plans to reach out in ‘raths’ in all 294 constituencies to reach out to people for ideas that would be incorporated as part of the manifesto.

“Ours is a government of the people, by the people and for the people, and public opinion and participation is equally important. This is not the first time we are doing such a thing. We have done a similar exercise during the Uttar Pradesh elections in 2017 and also during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections,” BJP core group member Anirban Ganguly told CNN News18.

The first of these ‘raths’ will be flagged off by BJP National President J P Nadda on February 25, from Kolkata. The ‘raths’ mounted with television screens showcasing the work done by the Modi government in the last seven years with special focus on Bengal in particular. Small videos and documentaries will be shown to people. The vehicles will be taken to all the 294 constituencies. These vehicles will also have boxes where people can write and submit their feedback and suggestions for the manifesto.

The Director of the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Research Foundation, Dr Anirban Ganguly, said, “People want to know who can offer a long-term vision of development of the State.”

Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly polls, the BJP has been trying to ramp up its presence in the State and has also come to blows with the ruling Trinamool Congress. The TMC has often attacked the BJP leaders, calling them outsiders and also alleged that the BJP has no understanding of the Bengal culture.
