BJP cries foul over Naveen's publicity pics
BJP says Orissa CM's pics must be taken off schemes lilke Rs 2-a-kg rice.

Bhubaneswar: Seeking removal of Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's pictures from banners and hoardings of the Rs 2-a-kg rice scheme, the BJP on Tuesday moved the Election Commission alleging violation of model code of conduct for the ensuing elections in the state.

BJP state unit president Suresh Pujari told reporters that a large number of such publicity materials were placed at different locations at panchayat headquarters, urban civic body offices and district offices.

"These places are likely to be used as polling booths," he said in a letter to the EC, copies of which were distributed at a press conference here.

Stating that these publicity materials were to influence voters, Pujari asked the EC to direct officials concerned to remove them for the conduct of free and fair elections in the state.

BJP MP Dharmendra Pradhan accused erstwhile partner BJD of working "hand-in-glove" with Congress and said his party would move the court in a day or two challenging the constitutional validity of the trust vote won by BJD in the state assembly on March 11.
