BJP attacks UPA, says ready for mid-term polls
Calling the Rail Budget an additional burden on the common man, Naidu said the UPA had betrayed the people.

New Delhi: Taking a dig at the government over the controversy concerning the Union Rail Budget and Minister Dinesh Trivedi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said that the government was not letting them do anything and was itself acting as the Opposition as well.

Calling the Rail Budget an additional burden on the common man, former BJP president Venkaiah Naidu said that the UPA had betrayed the people, adding, "People are amused. In this government, the right hand proposes and the left hand opposes."

Naidu also asserted that the BJP was ready for the mid term elections, claiming that the UPA had numbers "just on papers".

"Prime Minister says there are numbers. We think the numbers are there on papers but not with you," said Naidu, asking the government to "govern or get out".

Hitting out at the government on a range of issues, the BJP leader said that it had failed on all the fronts, pointing that while a minister from Uttarakhand had resigned, the other’s position was not known.

He said, "The Congress party has violated the term of coalition, and it has lost the trust. The foundation of this government has shaken brick by brick. There is no governance."

"Today we expected a reply from Prime Minister, but the ruling party ran away. There was no reply, no voting," said Naidu.
