2G scam: HC notice to CBI on Kanimozhi's plea
Kanimozhi had moved High Court seeking quashing of charges made against her by the CBI in the 2G scam.

New Delhi: Delhi High court on Tuesday issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on DMK MP Kanimozhi's plea to quash charges against her in the 2G scam. The court will now hear the matter on May 10 along with other 2G cases. Kanimozhi had on Friday moved High Court seeking quashing of charges made against her by the CBI in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

"Set aside/quash the charges and also quash the chargesheet filed by the CBI and all the proceedings emanating thereunder," the petition said. Kanimozhi, the daughter of DMK chief and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi, was along with former telecom minister A Raja, charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, forgery, accepting a bribe, and abetting bribery.

Kanimozhi, through the petition, said that she has been falsely implicated in the matter and there is no evidence of record which can justify the charges against her. The court had found evidence stating that the Rs 200 crore received by DMK mouthpiece Kalaignar TV was a bribe from the Shahid Balwa-owned DB Realty in return for a 2G licence.

"As per the CBI the alleged bribe money has been paid to Kalaignar TV between December 2008 and August 2009. During this phase the status of the petitioner was only that of a shareholder of 20 per cent equity of the company and nothing more," Kanimozhi claimed.

The High Court had on November 28, 2011 granted bail to Kanimozhi who was named in the supplementary chargesheet filed on April 25 as co-accused along with others.
