World Cup 2023: Michael Vaughan's Hilarious Reply to Babar Azam's Absence From Probable Semi-Finalists' Viral Photo
Michael Vaughan poked fun at a Pakistan fan who questioned why Babar Azam was not shown on the probable semifinalists' image shown at Gateway of India.

Former English cricketer Michael Vaughan came up with the perfect reply for several users questioning the omission of Babar Azam in a picture of the final four showcased on the Gateway of India. Several Pakistan fans were disappointed as the city of Mumbai celebrated the expected final four teams set to play the World Cup semifinals in India.

One of them wrote, “How did @ICC show these four captains in their video as semifinalists? Why there’s no Babar Azam picture at Gateway of India? Are Pakistan officially eliminated yet? Please stop being so biased towards us and so openly #CWC23 #PAKvsENG @BCCI”.

This prompted a reply from the former English cricketer who suggested that it had something to do with the 285+ run margin that Pakistan would need to cover up to secure the semis. While attaching a picture to his post, Vaughan wrote, “Maybe it has something to do with it…”.

Several fans found the reply to be both witty and hilarious. One of them jokingly said, “Pakistan will get eliminated at the toss itself”.

Another fan suggested that Pakistan often have luck favouring them which could be the case in their match against England. He said, “It depends on luck. Sometimes Pakistan have very nice luck”.

“It could happen if they play a good game,” said one more.

A fan quoted Pakistan icon Wasim Akram saying, “As stated by Wasim Akram, the best bet for Pakistan is to win the toss, bat, score 300 plus and then lock the English in the dressing room.”

Pakistan proved their mettle on Indian soil by beating New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium despite a massive total looming upon them. The Babar Azam-led side won the toss and elected to bat first. Still, things quickly went South after Rachin Ravindra smashed a scintillating century while Kane Williamson notched up another 95 runs to set a total of 401. In the second innings, the Men in Green lost Abdullah Shafique early. Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam stepped up for their sides to build a formidable partnership of 196 runs in just 25 overs. They were eventually declared the winners by 21 runs via the DLS method due to interruption from rainfall at the venue.

ENG VS PAK LIVE SCORE

Pakistan arrived in India after a poor showing at the 2023 Asia Cup. They failed to make the finals after losing to both Sri Lanka and India in the Super Four stage of the tournament.

However, they were able to begin their campaign for international glory on a winning note with opening victories against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. Things seemed to take a turn from that moment as the Asian Giants next conceded successive losses against India, South Africa, Australia and Afghanistan. They were able to mount a comeback by winning their previous couple of fixtures, giving them one last shot at making the World Cup playoffs in India.
