Birthday boy Virat Kohli was in a joyous mood after smashing his 49th ODI century as the former Indian skipper recreated Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic pose on the field against South Africa during the World Cup clash at Eden Gardens. Virat was seen grooving to the song ‘Chaleya’ from SRK’s movie ‘Jawan’ during South Africa’s inning as they set out to chase India’s target of 327 runs at Kolkata.
Kohli celebrated his 35th birthday on Sunday, November 5 and marked the occasion with an unbeaten knock of 101 runs against South Africa. He equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI centuries, finally reaching the coveted 49 hundreds mark in just 276 innings.
Courtesy of the century from Virat India were able to score a mammoth 326/5 against the Proteas with Shreyas Iyer smashing a 77-run knock, while Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja made useful contributions.

After doing the damage with the bat, Kohli was fired up on the field, not only did he entertain the crowd with his dance moves on ‘Chaleya’ from SRK’s blockbuster ‘Jawan’, but he also recreated the iconic pose of Shah Rukh Khan as well which drew a massive cheer from the fans at Eden Gardens.

The 35-year-old was in his groove right from the start when he came out to bat after Rohit Sharma was dismissed on 40, having given India an explosive start.
The Men in Blue collected 91 runs in the first 10 overs before the wickets of Rohit and Shubman Gill put India under pressure. Kohli joined hands with Shreyas Iyer to bring the hosts back into the contest with a century partnership.
Iyer smashed his fifty, Kohli hit his hundred and India reached a daunting total which proved a mountain too steep to climb for the Proteas.

Mohammed Siraj started the party of India getting the dangerous Quinton de Kock early on 5 runs before Ravindra Jadeja shocked the South African middle-order batters.
Jadeja picked out four wickets, and the chase was in tatters as the impact players of the Proteas all failed to leave a mark. India were closing in on their eighth consecutive win in the World Cup 2023, which would guarantee them a top spot finish in the points table heading into the semifinals.
