Success Story: Meet IAS Kartik Jivani Who Appeared in UPSC 4 Times, Became IPS Twice, IAS Once

After becoming an IPS officer, Karthik Jivani, a resident of Gujarat also started his training. But he still had the desire to become an IAS and he fulfilled his dream. According to a local media report of Gujarat, Jivani had studied till class 8 in Gujarati medium school. After that, he took admission in an English medium school. After passing class 12, he appeared in the JEE Main and Advanced examinations. After successfully clearing both exams, he took admission in the mechanical engineering course at IIT Bombay.

While studying engineering, Jivani decided to join the civil service by appearing in the UPSC exam. From the year 2016, he started preparing for UPSC exam. He failed in his first attempt in the year 2017. After this, he continued preparing hard for the next two years. In the year 2019, he took the UPSC exam for the second time and was successful in it.

In this examination, Jivani secured 94th rank at the All India level. But he could not be selected for IAS. He was just two ranks short of becoming an IAS. In this attempt, he was selected as an IPS officer. He had started his IPS training also but in the meantime kept preparing for the UPSC exam to become an IAS.

Jivani decided to take the exam for the third time while his training was still going on. In 2019, he achieved the All India 84th rank. Then in 2020, in his fourth attempt, he achieved 8th rank. With this, he became an IAS. According to his father, he took 15 days leave from IPS training to appear for the UPSC exam.

Jivani used to study for 10 hours daily. He used to study mostly at night. He did not depend only on books for his preparation but also made use of the content he got online to prepare for the exam and also made a lot of notes which helped him in his preparation process.
