Vijay Sethupathi Reveals He Didn't Talk To Katrina Kaif During Merry Christmas: 'I’m Afraid of You...'

Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi will soon be seen sharing the screen space together in Merry Christmas. Helmed by Sriram Raghavan, the one-of-a-kind thriller is all set to release on January 12, 2024. Ahead of the same, Katrina revealed that Vijay did not talk to her during the film’s shoot. Vijay was quick enough to respond and shared that he was ‘afraid’ of her.

In conversation with Pinkvilla, Katrina while discussing about the film, shared,z “I have to tell you something, you probably don’t know, a lot of people here. Vijay sir is very philosophical and he’s very very wise. He’s not a big conversationalist, at least on the film.”

Katrina then also added that Varun Dhawan told her, “I came to know later that Sriram sir had possibly told people that they shouldn’t talk too much to me on set. Varun Dhawan told this to me. He was asking what it’s like working with Sriram sir. I was like, ‘He’s amazing, his world is amazing but nobody talks much to me on set.’ I was questioning myself. He said, ‘Don’t worry, he’s told everyone not to talk to you.’ I don’t know if that’s true.”

Sriram immediately said, “I don’t think so.” Vijay then added, “No, no, it was not like that. I’m afraid of you, that’s why I didn’t talk. I’m new to this industry and she’s well experienced and she’s a big star here.”

The trailer of Merry Christmas begins with a montage of various clips. On Christmas Eve, Katrina encounters Vijay Sethupathi and playfully questions whether he is single or if he discreetly removed his wedding ring upon seeing her. Soon, they head to her residence, and events take an unexpected turn. She requests him to stay, hinting that appearances can be deceiving. The narrative unfolds over the course of one night in what looks like an intriguing and suspenseful dark thriller.

Katrina recently attended the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah and said that her next film, Merry Christmas, is the most challenging film of her career yet. She said that working with director Sriram Raghavan had been a goal of hers. Katrina also added that her character in the film needed some emotional and artistic investment from her. Katrina also spoke about working with Vijay Sethupathi and said that she found him to be phenomenal and expressed her admiration for watching him switch between Hindi and Tamil languages.

The film also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, Tinnu Anand, Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, Rajesh Williams, and Pari. Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte will also be seen in cameos in the film. Merry Christmas is produced by Ramesh Taurani, Jaya Taurani, Sanjay Routray and Kewal Garg.
