This Film Was The Turning Point In Kajol's Life: 'Took An Executive Decision At 20'
On November 4, Kajol celebrated 29 years of one of her much lesser-known films titled Udhari Ki Zindagi. Calling it a “turning point” in her life, she decided to take a hiatus from films at that time.

Kajol’s versatility as an actress needs no proof. From winning hearts with her impeccable performance in Baazigar to making her OTT debut with The Trial — the 49-year-old has indeed prospered in her career. But her journey to stardom had its fair share of lows, struggles, and “burnout”. On November 4, Kajol celebrated 29 years of one of her much lesser-known films titled Udhari Ki Zindagi. But through the celebratory post on Instagram, the actress imparted an important message to her fans. Although the 1994 film was just a passing memory for the masses, Kajol revealed that the KV Raju directorial made her realise a couple of things differently.

Dropping Udhari Ki Zindagi’s vintage film poster on Instagram, Kajol penned a long note stating, “Today marks 29 years of Udhaar ki Zindagi and no it didn’t have any short forms for its name. It kind of just passed by in most people’s memories, but for me, it will always be a turning point in my career and my life”. She continued feeling the “burnout” after drowning herself in too much work. Just 20 years old at that time, the actress however decided that she needed a change; more precisely a break from films.

“I took an executive decision at the great old age of 20 and decided that I deserve a break and a better pace of work. So I went ahead and did exactly that… I did films that did not need every bit of my soul, learned how to pace myself better, and more importantly to fill my bucket just so that I had more to give,” she added in the post. Concluding her inspiring write-up, Kajol admitted to practising her self-invented work mantra even today so that she does not get overburdened with too many projects. “So yes, this day needs a post. And a reminder for me and everyone else in this super fast-paced world,” she wrote.

Agreeing with Kajol, one user commented, “You are great and still give enough of yourself… yes and it is important to find a balance for yourself, otherwise you will lose yourself”. “And you succeded,” cheered another. Turning a little nostalgic, film producer Siddharth Malhotra wrote, “Dadaji ki chadi hoon main. Still remember the song from the film”.

On the work front, Kajol will next be seen in director Shashanka Chaturvedi’s Do Patti, also starring Kriti Sanon and director Kayoze Irani’s mystery-thriller Sarzameen, alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran and Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan.
