Navya Nanda Says Podcast Was Her Mom Shweta's Idea: 'Three Women From The Same Family...' | Exclusive

Navya Naveli Nanda has returned with the second season of her podcast, ‘What The Hell Navya?’, with her mother Shweta Bachchan and grandmother Jaya Bachchan. In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Navya revealed that it was Shweta Bachchan’s idea to start this podcast to encourage transparency in communication.

During an exclusive chat with us, Navya said, “It’s been a long journey now, we’re at season 2. Season 1 was the brainchild of something all three of us thought of during the lockdown. We all live together, so every evening we sit, similar to how we do on the show, and talk about many many different things. It was actually my mom’s idea to turn this into a podcast.”

“We felt that a lot of the conversations we are having on the show are really important conversations that should be had on public platforms. A lot more transparent conversations, open conversations about certain things that are unfortunately still stigmatised or taboo conversations to have,” she added.

Speaking about why Shweta wanted to start the podcast, Navya said, “She felt that maybe if you have three women from the same family, but different generations, sit and actually have those hard conversations, it might spark a thought here or there. It might encourage people to speak more openly about certain things. That’s really where the motivation for the show came from.”

“Season 1 was completely audio and a lot of people wanted to see us while we were talking. So now, it’s a vodcast. Season 2 is completely on video, it’s on YouTube. It’s been a nice switch into now the whole the video piece of it. But yeah, the idea really came about from there… from wanting to have the hard conversations publicly so that we can have and encourage more transparency in the way that we communicate,” Navya said, talking about the transition from audio to video.

In her podcast, she, along with grandmother Jaya Bachchan and mom Shweta speak about issues women face in society. They also got candid in their conversations.
