Marvel fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Deadpool and Wolverine. The trailer for the Shawn Levy-directed film, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, debuted at Super Bowl LVIII in February. Not only did the trailer receive a good response from viewers, but it also set a new record for the most-viewed movie trailer in 24 hours. In the third installment, Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman gets back into the character of Wolverine. Indian-American actor Karan Soni also returns to his role as Dopinder in the upcoming film, and during a recent interview, the actor hinted that the surprising return of Hugh Jackman was being planned for a very long time.

In conversation with Variety, during the South Asians at the Oscar party, Karan Soni shared about Hugh Jackman’s return. The actor said, “When we were making the second one, Ryan was plotting back then. I remember him spilling that at lunch one day that he had started a conversation with Hugh. I remember saying, ‘People are going to flip out!’ Then the studio got sold to Disney and a lot of other stuff happened. But, of course, Ryan followed through because it was dream casting.”

While the excitement to see Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman together on screen is quite high, Karan Soni also mentioned that the audience can expect more interesting cameos in the third installment. He mentioned, “This new MCU version is ultra-secretive. There are a lot of surprises. Let’s just say a lot of people travelled to London.” As per a report by Variety, Jennifer Garner will return to her role as superhero Elektra nearly two decades after her solo debut.

Karan Soni also recalled seeing Hugh Jackman on set for the first time. He expressed that he was surely star struck at the moment.

Meanwhile, the trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine smashed the record for the most-viewed movie trailer in 24 hours, with 356 million total views after debuting during the Super Bowl last month. The previous record holder was Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, which received 355.5 million internet views.

Deadpool and Wolverine will be released in theatres on July 26 and also star Matthew Macfadyen, Emma Corrin, Leslie Uggams, Rob Delaney, and Morena Baccarin in major roles.
