After nearly an year of their marriage, Shahid Kapoor opens up about his wife Mira Rajput to a leading daily recently.
According to the actor, "Mira and I never dated. We just met three to four times and decided to get married." Shahid was preparing for his role of Tommy Singh in 'Udta Punjab' while preparations of his marriage were going on. Recalling the incident when he first went to Mira's house he says, "I had a ponytail, drop-crotch track pants and weird shoes on. Her dad came out to welcome his son-in-law to be. He saw how I was dressed and he surely thought — 'God what is my daughter getting married to.'"
Shahid finds it to be adventurous of Mira to marry a guy who looked like Tommy. The 'Haider' actor further adds, "I remember telling her that I am going to colour my hair and she was like 'What?'!"
The actor says when he told Mira about his character's name her reply was, 'That is not the name of a guy, it is the name of a dog.' "Mira saved my name as Tommy in her phone.
Mira knew what she was marrying into but that didn't stop her from commanding her wish on Shahid for their big day. "She laid down one condition for me that I will not have coloured hair on the day of marriage. I made sure I behaved myself and looked like a decent groom."
Shahid confessed that he was fascinated by the idea of getting married in red hair. "I thought that my kids would see my wedding album and say - 'Our dad was cool. He was so into his work.' However he admits that now he's domesticated and listens to everything his wife says.
Talking about their growing tribe, Shahid is planning to take paternity leave at the time of child's birth. "It is all about Mira. She is the one who is pregnant. She is very young and I think it is not easy. I just want to be with her, around her."
On his future family planning he wants to keep things private. Himself a starkid, Shahid Kapoor wants to give his children as family oriented environment as possible. He says, "I have heard star kids complain that their parents were not there much in their childhood. I do not want to be that guy."
