Why Cillian Murphy Ate 'A Lot Of Cheese' After Filming Oppenheimer
Following the conclusion of Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy revealed a unique way of celebrating the wrap by indulging in a lot of cheese.

In the clash between Barbie and Oppenheimer, Margot Robbie’s film about the iconic doll shattered multiple box office records, while Cillian Murphy’s movie about the prominent scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer is dominating major award ceremonies. Now, their focus turns to the Oscars, where the biopic has garnered an impressive 13 nominations. To portray the scientist on the big screen, Murphy adhered to a strict diet, surviving on just one almond a day throughout the filming process.

Following the conclusion of the shoot, Murphy revealed in a recent interview with People that he celebrated the wrap alongside co-stars Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt in a unique way. Unlike traditional post-movie celebrations such as partying or relaxing vacations, Murphy opted to indulge in “a lot of cheese.”

When asked about the reason behind it, Emily, who played his wife Kitty in the biopic, explained, “Because he needed to decompress. Cheese is a great decompression.”

Meanwhile, Cillian Murphy, who had previously confessed about enjoying cheese during the SAG-AFTRA strike, mentioned that he was already well prepared and claimed, “I got so much free cheese.” When questioned about the specific type of cheese he obtained, the actor humorously mentioned, “Good cheese. Like an aged cheddar from cheddar companies.” The actor further jokingly added that he would happily take a whole wheel of parmesan cheese if he “could get it through customs.”

In November, when the cast of Oppenheimer gathered for media interaction for the film in Los Angeles, Murphy shared a quirky anecdote about his time during the SAG-AFTRA strike. The actor disclosed that when the strike halted their work, he found himself sitting at home, particularly in London, eating cheese. While he described the experience as “very odd,” the actor humorously recommended others to follow in his footsteps. When Emily Blunt asked when he stopped eating cheese, the actor replied, “Yesterday,” leaving attendees in splits.

Meanwhile, for the 96th Academy Awards ceremony, Christopher Nolan’s movie Oppenheimer is nominated in 13 categories, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Production Design, Best Sound, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Film Editing. Followed by Emma Stone starrer Poor Things, which has earned 11 nominations.
